Navigating Inventory

The tab bar, the All Modules menu, the search bar and the two layouts Inventory can wear.

Inventory opens on the Overview dashboard, with a tab bar across the top and one button that reaches everything else. Learn those two and every module afterwards works the same way.

The Inventory Overview screen. An amber header carries the app grid, the Inventory app pill, a search box and the account avatar. Below it a tab bar holds a single Overview tab on the left and an All Modules button on the right. The body shows Total Stock Overview, Stock Status, Stock Movement, Stock by Warehouse, Stock Aging and Stock by Category.
One tab to start with, and All Modules at the right of the tab bar.

Highlights

  • All Modules is the full menu, and the button sits at the right of the tab bar.
  • Star a module to pin it as a tab you can return to in one click.
  • Cmd+K, or Ctrl+K, puts the cursor in the search bar from anywhere.
  • Two layouts, Modern and Classic, switched under your avatar.
  • Every list remembers how you left it: the view you chose and the widths you dragged.

All Modules

All Modules opens the full Inventory menu, grouped exactly as the product is organised, with a search box for finding a screen by name.

The All Modules panel open over the Inventory Overview screen, headed All Modules and Inventory, full menu, with a Search modules box. The screens are grouped into Other Modules, Items, Inventory, Sales and Purchases, every row carries a star, and the foot reads star modules to add them to your favourites and customise your tab view experience, beside a Save button.
The full menu, grouped as the product is. The star pins a module as a tab.

Two layouts

Inventory ships two navigation shapes and remembers which you chose. Both reach the same screens.

Modern

the default

  • YesA tab bar across the top
  • YesAll Modules for the full menu
  • YesStarred modules become tabs
  • NoEvery module listed on screen at once

Classic

  • YesA left sidebar listing every module
  • YesGroups expand in place
  • YesDrag a module to reorder it
  • NoTabs across the top

Both live under your avatar at the top right, beside the light and dark theme switch. The choice is remembered in your browser rather than on your account.

The search bar sits in the header on every screen, and its placeholder tells you where you are: Search in Inventory on the dashboard, Search in Items once you are on the item list. What it searches does not change with the screen.

The header search box holding the word Hydraulic, with a results panel open beneath it headed Inventory. Results read Hydraulic Hose Assembly R2AT labelled sales_and_purchases, Hydraulic Oil ISO VG46 20 Litre Drum with SKU IRN-LUB-HYD46 labelled inventory, Hydraulic Cylinder 63mm Bore with SKU IRN-HYD-CYL63, Hydraulic System Commissioning, and Hydraulic Hose Assembly 1/2in R2AT with SKU IRN-HYD-R2AT12, each tagged Item on the right.
One query, and every result carries its SKU and its usage. Variants come back in their own right.
  1. Press Cmd+K, or Ctrl+K

Focus lands in the search bar from wherever you were. Escape gives it back.

  2. Enter a name, an SKU or a document number

Part of any of them will do. A customer name finds the contact and the documents raised against them at the same time.

  3. Select a result

It opens the record itself, not a filtered list containing it.

List screens

Every module opens on a list, and every list works the same way: filter it, sort it by selecting a column, search within it, and open a row.

The Items list under a tab reading Items, headed Items with the subtitle Manage your inventory items, goods, and services. Below are list and grid view icons and an All filter. The table columns are Item Name, Structure, Usage, Selling Price, Cost Price, Stock on Hand, Status and Created At, and the foot reads showing 1 to 25 of 44 results with a rows-per-page control.
A list screen: view switch and filters above, sortable columns, paging at the foot.
The view you chose
List or grid, remembered per module. Picklists can stay in grid while Items stays in list.
The widths you dragged
Drag a column edge and that width is kept for that list, on that browser.
Where you were
Come back from a record and the list is as you left it rather than reset to the first page.

Item variants in a list

An item with variants shows as one row with a chevron, and its variants open beneath it as indented rows. The parent carries the name and a count of its variants and nothing else, because a parent is a grouping label rather than something you can stock or sell.
