Find a File
Narrow by type, by the record it belongs to, by folder, or by when it arrived.
The Documents module exists for one case: you know a file exists and you cannot remember what it was attached to.
Narrow by type first
The chips across the top of the list count the files by kind, and selecting one filters immediately. All, Images, PDFs, Docs, Sheets and Other each carry their count, so you can see whether the thing you want is even in there before you start.
Then use the advanced filters
Select More filters
The Advanced filters popover opens over the list.

Set Associated to, if you know the kind of record
It filters to one entity type, so bills, receives or shipments on their own. This is the fastest cut when you remember the sort of document but not which one.
Set a folder, or a date range
From and To narrow by when the file was uploaded, which is usually easier to remember than its name.
Select Apply
Cancel closes the popover and leaves the list as it was.
| You remember | Filter on |
|---|---|
| Roughly when it arrived | The From and To dates |
| That it was a photograph of damage | The Images chip, then the date |
| Which kind of record it belonged to | Associated to |
| That you filed it somewhere | Folder |
| The order or vendor number | Search the record instead, and read its attachments |
