Add a Designation
Create a job title for the organisation, and write the description that keeps it distinct.
Adding a title is a two-field job. It opens in a panel beside the list rather than on its own page, so the titles you already have stay in view while you name a new one.
Select Add Designation on the Designations screen. The panel opens over the list.

Enter the Designation Name. It is the only required field, and it is what appears on every employee holding it.
Write a Description. It is optional and worth doing, because nothing else on the list separates two titles that sound alike.
Select Save. The title becomes available immediately, with no employees against it until you assign some.
Naming that stays useful
| Do | Rather than | Because |
|---|---|---|
| Warehouse Operative | Warehouse Operative (Nights) | Shift pattern belongs to the shift, not the job title. |
| Field Service Engineer | Field Service Engineer, Glasgow | Location belongs to the work location, and the person can move. |
| Workshop Technician | Senior Workshop Technician II | Seniority that fine-grained makes the column ungroupable. |
| A description on every title | A title long enough to explain itself | The description field exists for exactly this. |
