A setting doesn't save
Why a change to Nest's settings is refused or doesn't seem to take effect, and what to do about each.
Changing a setting takes two things: permission to change it, and a Save before you leave the page. Each heading below is something you might see, with the reason and the fix.
Only admins can update settings
Why: you can read Nest's settings, but saving a change needs someone who administers Nest or the whole organisation.
What to do: ask an administrator to make the change.
Save is greyed out

Why: nothing on the page has changed yet, or the change was undone.
What to do: change the value you want, and Save becomes available. Cancel puts the page back as it was.
I left the page and my change was lost
Why: a change is kept only when you select Save. Moving to another page, or closing the settings, discards it.
What to do: make the change again and select Save before leaving.
Changing the default view does nothing
Why: folder lists open in the view each person last chose in their own browser, not in the view set here.
What to do: ask people to pick Details, Grid or Compact with the view switch at the top right of any folder.
Folders stopped opening after a change
Why: the default sort order was set to Name (A-Z) or Name (Z-A), which currently stops folders opening.
What to do: on the General page, set the sort order back to Newest First and select Save.
