# Regularization

The request types people can raise when a day recorded something other than what happened, and what each category changes on the form.

A regularization is how somebody says the record is wrong. This screen decides what they may say: the list of types here is the list the request form offers.

![The Regularization Types screen, headed Regularization Types above the line Configure the regularization request types available for employees, with a blue Type button at the right. Six rows follow, each with a name and one or two badges: Forgot to clock in with Check-in / Check-out and Check-in only, Forgot to clock out with Check-in / Check-out and Check-out only, Missed punch with Check-in / Check-out and Check-in and Check-out, Overtime approval with Overtime, Shift change with Shift Change, and Work from home with Work From Home.](https://www.sorviai.com/help/worklink/settings/regularization-types.png)

*The badges are the category and, for a check-in type, which time the form prefills.*

## Add a type

- Go to **Worklink Settings > Regularization**, then select **+ Type** at the top right.
- Enter a **Name** people will recognise, such as `Forgot to clock in`.
- Choose a **Category**. This is the field that matters: it controls which fields the request form shows.
- For a check-in or check-out type, set **Prefilled time** to say which time the form fills in for the person raising it.
- Select **Save**.

## The category does the work, the name is a label

| Category | What the request form asks for |
| --- | --- |
| Check-in / Check-out | A corrected time, for a punch that was missed or recorded wrongly. |
| Leave | A retrospective leave request against the day. |
| Shift Change | A change to the pattern the day was judged against. |
| Work From Home | A day worked away from the office that was not recorded as such. |

> **Note:**
>
> **Two types can share a category**
>
> Name them for the situation people recognise, not for the mechanism. `Forgot to clock in` and `Missed punch` are both check-in and check-out types, and the difference between them is useful to whoever approves them.

## Prefilled time

A check-in or check-out type also carries **Prefilled time**, which decides what the form fills in with the current time and what it leaves blank.

- **Check-in only** (morning): The check-in is prefilled and the check-out is left blank.
- **Check-out only** (evening): The check-out is prefilled and the check-in is left blank.
- **Check-in and Check-out** (both): Both are prefilled, for a day that recorded nothing at all.

> **Tip:**
>
> **Deactivating hides a type without losing its history**
>
> An inactive type disappears from the request form while every request already raised under it keeps its label. That is nearly always what you want instead of deleting one.

> **Note:**
>
> **The monthly allowance is set elsewhere**
>
> How many requests somebody gets a month, and how far back a request may reach, are Attendance Policy settings rather than properties of a type.
