# Introduction - Offboarding

Everything between somebody deciding to leave and their record going quiet, in one pipeline.

**Video coming soon:** A tour of Offboarding: the pipeline, the clearance checklist, and the two ways a separation starts.

A separation is the record of somebody leaving. It carries the leaving date, the reason, a clearance checklist across departments and an exit interview, and it sets the employee's status when it closes.

![The Offboarding screen, headed Offboarding above the line Manage employee separations, approvals, and exit interviews, with a Central Warehouse location picker and a blue New Separation button. Three tabs read Pipeline 3 separations, Pending Approvals 1 awaiting decision and Exit Interviews 2 reviews. The table has columns Employee, Department, Initiated By, Exit Type, Initiated On, Last Working Day, Days Left, Clearance and Status, listing Kwame Boateng, Meredith Vaughan and Dermot Lynch.](https://www.sorviai.com/help/worklink/offboarding/offboarding-list.png)

*Three separations in the pipeline. Clearance is a progress bar because it is a checklist across departments, not a single tick.*

## Three tabs, three jobs

![Three tabs on the Offboarding screen: Pipeline, selected and reading 3 separations; Pending Approvals reading 1 awaiting decision; and Exit Interviews reading 2 reviews.](https://www.sorviai.com/help/worklink/offboarding/pipeline-tabs.png)

*Each tab carries its own count, so the work outstanding is visible without opening anything.*

- **Pipeline** (everybody leaving): Every open separation with its clearance progress and days remaining.
- **Pending Approvals** (decisions waiting): Separations that need signing off before they proceed.
- **Exit Interviews** (reviews outstanding): Interviews arranged or completed and waiting to be read.

## What a row tells you

![Three separation rows. Kwame Boateng of Warehouse and Logistics, initiated by Employee, exit type Resignation, initiated 8 September with a last working day of 14 August, Days Left showing minus 25 days in red, clearance 5 of 5 with a full green bar and the status Clearance Complete. Meredith Vaughan of Operations, a Retirement, has no last working day, 0 of 5 clearance and the status Pending. Dermot Lynch of Engineering and Maintenance, a Resignation, has 3 of 5 clearance and the status In Progress.](https://www.sorviai.com/help/worklink/offboarding/separation-rows.png)

*A negative Days Left is a last working day already past, which usually means the clearance is what is still open.*

> **Note:**
>
> **The pipeline is scoped to the depot in the picker**
>
> A separation for somebody based elsewhere will not appear here, which reads exactly like no separations existing. If the list is empty and you expected rows, change the location before anything else.
