# Track and Cancel a Request

Follow a request through approval, and withdraw one you no longer need.

A request you have submitted is not final. Until somebody decides it, you can take it back yourself, and the days return to your balance the moment you do.

- Open **Leaves** and find the request. Filter by **All Status** if the list is long and you only want the ones still open.

![The leaves table showing six requests. The top row is an Annual Leave request for 26 to 30 October marked Pending in amber; below it sit approved rows in green and one rejected row in red. Each row except the rejected one ends in a three-dot actions button.](https://www.sorviai.com/help/worklink/my-leaves/leaves-table.png)
- Read the **Status**. Amber is with your manager, green is granted, red was declined.
- Select the three-dot button at the end of the row and choose to cancel. The days go straight back to **Remaining** on your balance.

## What you can still do, by state

| Status | Can you edit it | Can you cancel it |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Pending | Yes, while nobody has decided it. | Yes. Nothing has been granted, so nothing has to be given back. |
| Approved, not yet started | No. | Usually, but it depends on your organisation's policy. Ask your manager. |
| Approved, already started | No. | No. Speak to your manager, who can amend the record from the admin side. |
| Rejected | No. | There is nothing to cancel. Raise a fresh request if circumstances changed. |

> **Note:**
>
> **A rejected row carries no actions button**
>
> That is not a permission problem. A declined request is closed, its days are already back in your balance, and the row remains only as a record of what was asked.

> **Tip:**
>
> **Cancel rather than let it lapse**
>
> A pending request holds days out of your balance for as long as it sits there. If plans change, withdrawing it immediately is what makes those days available to request again.
