# Apply for Leave

Raise a request against one of your entitlements and send it to your approver.

A leave request names a type, a span and a reason. The form checks the request against your balance as you build it, so you find out it is too long before you submit rather than after.

> **Before you start:**
>
> You need remaining days on the leave type you intend to use. The Balance Summary beside the form shows what you have on each.

- Open **Apply Leave**, from the Leaves screen or from Quick Actions on My Attendance.

A Request Details section holds a Leave Type list reading Annual Leave (23 remaining), a Duration row of Full Day, Half Day and Multiple Days with Full Day selected, and a Date field. Reason and Attachment sections follow. A Balance Summary card and an orange note reading Your reporting manager will be auto-notified upon submission sit on the right. - Choose a **Leave Type**. Each option carries its remaining days in brackets, so you can see what you have without leaving the form.

Below it a Duration control offers Full Day, Half Day and Multiple Days, with Full Day selected in blue, above a Date field showing the placeholder dd/mm/yyyy.](https://www.sorviai.com/help/worklink/my-leaves/request-details.png)
- Pick a **Duration**. **Full Day** and **Half Day** ask for one date; **Multiple Days** asks for a start and an end and counts the working days between them.
- Write a **Reason**, and attach a document if the type calls for one. Sick leave beyond a few days usually does.
- Select **Submit Leave**. Your reporting manager is notified automatically; you do not need to tell them separately.

> **Tip:**
>
> **Multiple Days already skips your days off**
>
> A request spanning a weekend does not cost you the weekend. Worklink counts the request against your shift's week pattern and the holiday calendar, so the Days figure is the working days only.

> **Note:**
>
> **Submit Leave stays greyed out until the form is complete**
>
> Leave type, duration, date and reason are all required. If the button will not press, one of those four is empty.
