# Introduction - Announcements

Notices published to the organisation, and the three states one passes through.

**Video coming soon:** A tour of Announcements: what people see on their attendance screen, and how a notice gets there.

An announcement is a short notice that appears on the Worklink overview for everybody it targets. It is the one place in the app that pushes information at people rather than waiting to be opened.

![The Announcements screen, headed Announcements above the line Share news and notices with your team, with a blue New Announcement button. The table has columns Title, Audience, Status and Publish Date, listing nine notices including Mandatory GDPR refresher due 30 September, Summer shutdown dates confirmed, a Draft revised expenses policy, Trade counter opening hours for winter marked Scheduled, and several Published notices.](https://www.sorviai.com/help/worklink/announcements/announcements-list.png)

*Nine notices in three states. Audience reads Everyone on all of them here.*

## The three states

![Rows of the announcements table. Mandatory GDPR refresher due 30 September, audience Everyone, Published on 29 August 2026. Summer shutdown dates confirmed, Published 18 August. Draft revised expenses policy, marked Draft in grey with a dash for its publish date. Trade counter opening hours for winter, marked Scheduled in blue for 20 September. Payroll cut-off moved to the 18th, Christmas and New Year cover rota open, and Fire drill for all depots, all Published.](https://www.sorviai.com/help/worklink/announcements/announcement-rows.png)

*A draft has no publish date at all. A scheduled one has a date in the future.*

- **Draft** (not going anywhere): Written and saved, visible only to whoever can open this screen. It carries no publish date.
- **Scheduled** (waiting for its date): Finished and dated for the future. It will publish itself without anybody pressing anything.
- **Published** (live): On the overview of everybody in its audience, newest first.

## Where people actually see them

An announcement appears in the Announcements card on the Worklink overview, which is the screen most people open first. That card shows the title, the date and the opening line, and expands in place.

| Column | Means |
| --- | --- |
| Title | The notice itself. It is what people read on the overview, so it should say the thing rather than tease it. |
| Audience | Who it targets. Everyone is the commonest choice, but every announcement is targeted deliberately: there is no default audience. |
| Status | Draft, Scheduled or Published. |
| Publish date | When it went live, or when it will. A dash means it is a draft. |
| Expires | When it stops showing, if a date was set. |

> **Note:**
>
> **There is no location picker on this screen**
>
> Announcements are organisation-wide by default, so unlike attendance and offboarding this list is not scoped to a depot. If a notice only concerns one site, say so in the title.

> **Tip:**
>
> **Write the title as the message**
>
> "Payroll cut-off moved to the 18th" is read and understood from the overview without opening anything. "Important payroll update" makes everybody click to find out whether it applies to them.
