# What reports are

What Repairs can tell you about your workshop, how its reports are grouped, and which ones are not repair-only.

Repairs ships a catalogue of reports rather than a single analytics screen, and each one answers a specific question. The catalogue is grouped by the kind of question, so you pick the group first and the report second.

## Highlights

- **Twenty-seven reports in eleven categories**, all supplied with the product.
- **Star the ones you run weekly** and they gather under Favourites.
- **Nothing here is built by hand.** Every report is system generated.
- **Seven of them are the wider platform's**, and they are not filtered to repairs.
- **A report is a live query**, not a snapshot: it re-runs each time you open it.

## The catalogue

![The Reports List screen headed Reports List with the subtitle 20 reports across 8 categories, and a Search reports box. A row of category chips reads All, Favourites, Business Overview 1, Service 4, Devices 3, Estimates 2, Repair Billing 4, Parts And Stock 1, Customers 2 and Activity 3. Below them a Business Overview section holds its single report, Repair Summary.](https://www.sorviai.com/help/repairs/reports/reports-list.png)

*The catalogue, grouped by the question each report answers. The chips filter it; the star pins a report to Favourites.*

*The eleven categories*

| Category | Reports | What it answers |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Business Overview | 1 | How the workshop did over a period |
| Service | 4 | What is on the bench, who did it, and where the work came from |
| Devices | 3 | What you repair most, and what keeps coming back |
| Estimates | 3 | What was quoted and whether it was accepted |
| Repair Billing | 4 | What is unbilled, what is owed, and what a repair earned |
| Parts and Stock | 2 | What repairs consume and what you hold |
| Customers | 2 | Who sends you work, and whether they return |
| Activity | 3 | Work reports, the audit trail, and what was deleted |
| Receivables | 2 | What customers owe you |
| Payments Received | 1 | What has been paid |
| Purchases | 2 | What was ordered and what arrived |

## Two kinds of report in one catalogue

Most of these reports were written for Repairs and read repair data only. Seven are the wider platform's own reports, listed here because a workshop needs them, and they behave the way they do everywhere else.

- **Repairs' own reports**: Written for the workshop: ageing, technician performance, uninvoiced work, parts consumption. They read tickets and the documents tickets produced.
- **Shared platform reports** (seven of the twenty-seven): Quote Details, Invoice Details, Customer Balance Summary, Payments Received, Purchase Order Details, Receive History and Stock Summary. They are the organisation's reports, shown here unchanged.

> **Warning:**
>
> **The shared reports are not filtered to repairs**
>
> This is the trap in the catalogue. The Invoices screen in Repairs shows only invoices a ticket produced, but Invoice Details, opened from this list, shows every invoice in the organisation. The reports were not forked for Repairs, deliberately, so a figure taken from one of the seven is a company figure rather than a workshop one. Check which kind you are reading before quoting a total.

> **Tip:**
>
> **Star the three or four you actually run**
>
> Twenty-seven is more than anybody reads. The star on each card puts a report under **Favourites**, which is the chip most workshops end up living in: typically Aged Repairs to see what is stuck, Uninvoiced Repairs to see what is unbilled, and Technician Performance for the week's review.
