# Other Actions in Shipments

Reversing one, reading carriage cost, and the filters that matter at week end.

![The Shipments list with twenty-four shipments, showing the Carrier, Tracking, Status and Cost columns alongside the source sales order and customer for each.](https://www.sorviai.com/help/inventory/shipments/shipments-list.png)

*Carrier and cost side by side is the crude version of a carrier performance review, and it is better than an impression.*

## On one shipment

| Action | When it is available |
| --- | --- |
| Advance the status | Once it exists |
| Edit the carrier or tracking number | Always. These are administrative, not stock |
| Attach a document | Always |
| Delete | Only when the box did not actually go. It puts the stock back |

> **Warning:**
>
> **Deleting is a stock movement in reverse**
>
> It returns the units to your count as though they were never sent. That is right for a shipment recorded in error and wrong for goods coming back, which is a sales return with a reason on it.

## On the list

| Filter | What it answers |
| --- | --- |
| Pending | Boxes the carrier has not taken |
| In Transit | Everything on the road |
| By customer | One account's deliveries, for a query |
| By carrier | Whether one carrier is slower, or dearer, than the others |
| By date | What went out this week |

## What the list is good for

- **Answering where is my order**: Search the customer, open the shipment, read the tracking number. Faster than the sales order route.
- **Checking the day went out**: Filter to today. A package packed but not shipped is a customer expecting something tomorrow.
- **Carriage as a cost**: The Cost column totalled by carrier over a quarter is the conversation you want before renewing a rate card.
