# Preferences

Two module switches, and the workspace defaults applied across documents and PDFs. The shortest screen in the rail and not the least consequential.

Preferences has two tabs. The first decides which modules Inventory offers at all; the second holds defaults documents and PDFs are built from.

Go to **Settings > Preferences**. Two tabs: **Modules** and **Defaults**.

## Modules

**Enabled Modules** holds two switches, and only two.

> **Everything else in Inventory is always on**
>
> Items, stock adjustments, packages, shipments and transfers have no switch, because an inventory app without them would not be one. The long list of optional modules belongs to the finance side of the workspace.

> **Warning:**
>
> **Switching a module off hides its settings with it**
>
> A settings tab that configures a switched-off module is removed, and a settings screen whose every tab has gone is removed too. If a tab you were using has disappeared, this screen is the first place to look.

Turning a module off hides it; it does not delete anything. Records already raised stay in the database and come back when the module is turned on again.

> It changes how your address is laid out on a printed document. The address itself is on the organisation profile, and nothing on screen reads this setting.
