# Access Finance

Signing in to your organisation, moving between apps, and why your modules may not match a colleague's.

Finance is one app inside your organisation's SorviAI workspace. What you can open in it is decided by your role, and roles are set per app.

## Highlights

- **Your organisation has its own address**, and you sign in there rather than at a shared one.
- **One sign-in covers every app** you have been given access to.
- **Roles are scoped to one app.** A Finance role says nothing about Worklink or Repairs.
- **The menu is filtered to your permissions**, which is why two people can see different modules.
- **Settings is gated separately** from the modules it configures.

## Signing in

Your workspace has an address of its own, in the form of your organisation's name followed by the SorviAI domain. Sign in there with the email address you were invited on.

- **Open your organisation's address**

The sign-in card names the workspace you are about to enter, so you can tell at a glance that you are in the right one. **Login to a different one** is there if you are not.

The right half holds a card headed Login to your workspace, naming the workspace Ironvale Industry beneath a building icon, with Work email and Password fields, a Forgot password link, a Login button, and a line reading Not your workspace? Login to a different one.](https://www.sorviai.com/help/getting-started/sign-in.png)
- **Sign in with your email address and password**

Use the address your invitation was sent to. **Forgot password?** emails you a reset link.
- **Open Finance from the App Center**

Signing in lands you here. Only the apps your workspace has, and that you have been granted, are shown.

![The App Center headed Welcome, Ironvale! Seven cards each carry an icon, a name and a line of description: Finance, run the money side of the business; Inventory, know what stock you hold; TeamEmail, one shared mailbox; Repairs, take a device in and follow the work done on it; POS, sell across the counter; Worklink, everything to do with your people; and Nest, a private space for the team.](https://www.sorviai.com/help/getting-started/app-center.png)

> **Tip:**
>
> **Pin Finance as a favourite**
>
> Up to five apps can be pinned, and pinned apps sit in the header where you can switch to them without opening the switcher first.

## Why your menu differs from a colleague's

Every module except Overview, Reports and Documents is filtered by what your role allows. Nothing announces this: a module you cannot open is simply absent, rather than present and refusing you.

A group such as Sales disappears entirely when your role holds none of the screens inside it, rather than showing an empty heading.

| What you see | What it means |
| --- | --- |
| A module is missing entirely | Your role does not hold its permissions. Only an administrator can change that. |
| A module is there but a record will not save | You can view but not create or edit. View and edit are separate permissions. |
| Settings is missing | Settings has its own permission, separate from the modules it configures. |
| Everything is there | You are an administrator, or your role has been granted the full set. |

> **Note:**
>
> **Roles are per app, not per person**
>
> A role in Finance grants nothing anywhere else. Being an administrator in Worklink does not make you one here, and being removed from Finance does not remove you from the workspace.

## Who administers what

- **Platform administrator**: Manages the whole workspace and every app in it, including the admin console.
- **Finance administrator**: Manages roles and users inside Finance only. Cannot reach another app's settings.
- **Everybody else**: Sees and edits exactly what their role's permissions allow, and nothing beyond it.

## Two modules that are open to everyone

Reports and Documents are currently visible to anyone who can open Finance, regardless of role. This is deliberate rather than an oversight: the underlying permissions have not been granted to any role yet, so switching the gates on would hide both from every non-administrator rather than from the unauthorised.

> **Warning:**
>
> **Treat this as temporary**
>
> Both will start obeying their permissions once those are assigned to roles. If either holds something a colleague should not see, raise it with your administrator rather than relying on it staying open.

## When you cannot get in

| Symptom | Where the problem usually is |
| --- | --- |
| The address is not found | The workspace name is misspelled. Check the invitation. |
| The password is rejected | Use Forgot password on the sign-in screen to have a reset link emailed to you. |
| Sign-in stops responding after several tries | Repeated attempts from one connection are rate-limited for a minute. Wait, then try again; your account is not locked. |
| You sign in but Finance is not offered | Your account exists in the workspace but has not been granted the Finance app. |
| Finance opens with almost nothing in All Modules | You have the app but your role holds few permissions. |
